My approach

The purpose of my work is to create the conditions to bring about the change that you want to see in your life. Change, which allows you to be inspired, to discover and realise your ambitions and be able to access your potential to experience life fully. When therapy is done well it is a gateway to learn about yourself – to find and develop your strengths, overcome your wounds and gain greater fulfilment in your life.

Evidence shows that if counselling is to be effective rather than any specific technique or modality the most significant factor is the quality of the relationship you have with your therapist. It is therefore essential that you get a strong sense of the “right fit” with your therapist.

My approach to therapy therefore begins with understanding you, building an effective, supportive, empathetic relationship to understand your aspirations, and mutually discover the approach that will be most beneficial for you. Key hallmarks of my therapeutic approach include ensuring you feel heard, listening to your story to engage respectfully and empathetically with your insights, and feelings.

Unfortunately, I do not offer services to client’s that have eating disorders. I believe this requires specialist training and I do not work beyond my sphere of competence.

Though many of my clients present with the above areas of concern, people rarely bring a single issue or easily fit into a specific category. We’re all individuals with a unique set of experiences and challenges. If you don’t see what you want to work through in the above please rest assured I’m able to hold space for you.

A free 15 minute call is a great opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your experiences of therapy, any fears you have about the process and understand if working with me is right for you before committing to a first session. Calls can be via phone or online.
