Let’s Work Together
A free 30 minute call is a great opportunity to get to know each other, discuss your experiences of therapy, any fears you have about the process and understand if working with me is right for you before committing to a first session. Calls can be via phone or online. My appointment FAQs are below.
How do I get started?
My therapy appointments are available virtually (via video or telephone) to clients across the U.K or face to face Therapy in Manchester. You can schedule an appointment above and select your preferred session method.
I offer both short and long-term therapy services, but I do not prescribe how many sessions you need – that’s something we can work out together and amend as needed as your sessions progress. It may be that you are just wanting a few sessions to work on a particular issue, or you may be wanting to work on more long-standing issues.
I’ve worked successfully with clients who have required just a single session and others who have undertaken therapy for a number of months.
Appointment FAQs
-
I’m often asked, ‘How many sessions will I need?’ and as a person-centred therapist I have a simple answer – not a single one more than you think you need.
I’ve found clients experience the most change when they consistently attend sessions on a weekly basis for at least 6 weeks, nevertheless depending on what the client presents with the therapeutic benefits of counselling may take longer. We can discuss what works best for you as I understand work and life responsibilities can make weekly attendance difficult. As far as practical I want to work with you to make attending therapy as easy as possible. Your therapy appointment should be a safe space not another source of stress.

I understand that undertaking therapy may on the face of it appear to be a considerable investment but, how do we put a price on happiness or being able to live our lives with meaning and purpose? Everything in life has an opportunity cost but to equate the cost of doing life enhancing work from which you could reap the rewards from for many years to come with perhaps the cost of, a night out, or a new pair of trainers, does not do it justice. In my experience undertaking counselling is an investment in your future that can pay dividends in terms of how you feel, how you experience the world and enable you to act more authentically in order to realise your ambitions.

The Benefits of online therapy or therapy by telephone
You can find a private space in your own home where you feel most comfortable to fully engage in therapy.
Some people find it easier to talk or express themselves online rather than in person. Although I appreciate this is not everyone’s experience.
We can be more flexible about scheduling sessions as it is easier to fit in around our other commitments.
You don’t have to travel or struggle to find a parking space in a busy town or city centre.
Crucially the evidence shows that virtual therapy is just as effective as meeting face to face.

No, I do not provide emergency mental health care. Should you require urgent help for mental health please follow the guidance on the NHS website.
Online Therapy Guidelines
-
offer these guidelines because I want you to be able to make the best use of your time in therapy as possible.
It’s best to treat your online therapy sessions as you would an in-person session. In the home there can be many distractions – mobile telephones, tv sets, family pets. This is your time to focus on yourself.
I’d urge you to find a quiet comfortable space that’s safe and free from distractions – switch off tv if you're in the same room as it.
It may even be helpful to put a note on the door to ensure you are not disturbed during your hour.
If you share a home, as most of us do you may wish to wear headphones to ensure your session remains private and to block out any other noise that may be present.
